Talk about a shocker…

I had to do a double-take when I read Avinash Kaushik’s blog this morning. According to Avinash, John has left ClickTracks.

My mind is flooded with thoughts about the relationship that I’ve enjoyed with John and ClickTracks. Honestly, I owe most of my web analytics beginnings to ClickTracks. To me, it was as though John had been a vital feature that was built into the tool. The odds are that if you’ve ever met John, you’ve been infected by his contagious enthusiasm for web analytics and his software.

There have been many times when I’ve had software feature suggestions and John was keen to carefully listen and often implement over time. In fact, I’m pretty sure that I would get credit for suggesting that they start a ClickTracks certification program.

Now I sit here and wonder if ClickTracks will be able to fill John’s shoes with someone that has the same passion and drive for web analytics, their software, and people. I honestly doubt it, but then again, who knows?

Most of all, I wonder what John has up his sleeve next.

John, I thank you for all you’ve done to help bring me to where I am today. I’m better for it, and in turn, my company The Karcher Group is, too. I wish you the best in all your endeavors.
